Richland Choirs

Hello and welcome to this year’s 7th & 8th Grade Choir! I am so excited to be your student’s choir teacher this year! I am thrilled to be at Richland and be a part of the amazing community of teachers, administration, students, and of course, the parents.

I graduated from Wheaton College with a degree in Music Education with a choral emphasis and a Spanish minor. Before my collegiate career, I was a part of the children’s chorus, Anima:Glen Ellyn Children’s Chorus, from 5th grade through 12th grade. I owe Anima and its conductors my love of choral music and the community that is fostered within the music classroom. Anima also granted me many opportunities to sing in professional venues in North America and in several foreign countries. These experiences have formed my conviction that the arts not only contribute to society but to the personal formation of the performer in their social development and intellectual growth.

My goals for this year include investing in your student in order to draw out and increase their love of music and musical abilities. I will bring musical knowledge including ear training and music theory, utilizing strong educational principles while bringing mastery to my classroom and instilling a love of music and a joyful collaborative experience in and for my students.

So far this year, we have spent time singing rounds to get comfortable with each other and have jumped into the music theory aspect every day for about 10 minutes. Just the past couple days, we have started to learn our music for the Winter Concert and are sounding fantastic already – looking forward to making more music in the months to come!

Please email me with any questions or concerns at any time. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Hello, everyone!

What wonderful singers we have in the 3rd and 4th grades! They love music and are very eager to sing and learn about singing. We had a wonderful rehearsal on Tuesday! We learned how to stand properly as singers, how to breathe correctly, and began learning one of our songs for the December concert. So far we have learned two rounds, “O Music” and “Ah, poor bird”. I am looking forward to our Tuesday afternoons together.
A couple announcements:
  1. Choir Contract is due October 10th. Please look over it with them and have it ready by our next rehearsal. I am attaching another copy of it below.
  2. Please be PROMPT with pickup! Our rehearsal ends at 4:00 pm. If you are unable to pick up your child within 10-15 mins after rehearsal ends, 4:10-4:15, please arrange for your child to be picked up by another parent/guardian.
Our rehearsals have been so much fun! I am looking forward to a year of music-making and memories made.
If you  have any questions or concerns, feel free to email me.
