RICHLAND Bands was establish in 2004 by the RICHLAND District 88a School Board and Superintendent, Dr. Michael Conver. The inaugural director chosen to lead the band was, at the time recently retired Joliet High School Band director, Ted Lega. Current Director of Bands, Mr. Phil Robb, joined RICHLAND in 2009. More than ten years after the program’s inception, the band continues to grow an an exponential rate. Enrollment in the program currently exceeds 200 students, serving as an integral part of the RICHLAND education experience for fourth through eighth grade students.

The program is now established with 6 regularly meeting ensembles; curricular ensembles meeting during school day for 35 minutes each, and co-curricular ensembles meeting before or after school for an 45 minutes. In 2015, the RICHLAND District 88a School Board and Superintendent, Dr. Michael Early announced the addition of a new band room on the west side of the campus. This addition is the the district’s first major construction project since 2007, when the elementary school was built. The new room will support the growing band program as well as be utilized for additional uses.Low Brass Section

Today, as the program continues to grow and develop, students raise the bar for achievement and look for opportunities to share their talents with the community. We hope you can make it to one of our performances to hear what our students have to offer.
